Our room was incredible!
We went through Royal Holiday Club and wound up with a two-story three-bedroom unit with full kitchen and living room. Two large patios with an ocean view. Note that many of the rooms on the sprawling property have no ocean view and some are very close to the noisy street. At least six swimming pools were open, plus a hot tub. The staff was friendly and helpful. One big complaint: The two so-called heated pools were still quite cold. This is important because the beaches throughout Puerto Vallarta are not the best and certainly not the cleanest. Puerto Vallarta is still a lovely city with much to offer. Its reported to be the second best food town in Mexico. Its also a thriving art center. Go to the Zocolo on Sunday and join the locals for free entertainment and reasonably priced street food. All the water in Puerto Vallarta proper is purified, so you don't have to worry about you know what. Los Tules is great for a romantic getaway, and I like the fact that there isn't blaring music near the pools or any organized activities whatsoever. Theres only one bar/restaurant here, so there isn't any great social or party atmosphere here, which is okay by me. Its close to El Centro (downtown) which has all the bars and restaurants you could need. For bars, try Senor Frogs, The Zoo, and Hilo. You can rent internet access for a reasonable price and Los Tules has its own convenience store, but theres a large shopping mall just across the street with a Soriana grocery store with a wide selection including dirt cheap produce and freshly baked goods. For an expensive but out-of-this-world dining experience, try Teatro Limon (reviewed elsewhere). Cafe Des Artistes is certainly the fanciest place in town.

Gorgeous setting, away from the hustle and bustle
This place is wonderful and the ocean was right outside of our room. IT was such a welcome change from teh crazy tourist trap of most of PV. The rooms were lovely adn very clean and we found the staff to be qutie helpful. The restaurant served rpetty good food. We were actually able to RELAX on our vacation, and if you'd like to do that too, go to Los Tules!

Los Tules a great place for a family vacation
I was pleasantly surprised when we arived at Los Tules. I was wiht my husband, our son and a brother and sister in lawy. We had low expectations but the grounds were simply beautiful! We staye din a 3bed/3bath unit and it was central to the pool and the restaurant. if you sit at the pool you can look out at the ocean and the bay. gorgeous! The units are not fancy, but it was great for a family vacation and the conod had a full kitchen and a TV in the living room, which was graet for when we were too tired or sunburned to go outside. The location is great too, it was a quick bus ride to downtown, which had a movie theater, grocery stor e and a malll. My son also enjoyed seeing the iguanaas around the property. If you are the resort-type, who loves spa services and likes to stay at the resort and sip fruity drinks around the pool, this may not be the right place for you...LosTules is much more casual and more family-oriented, but the grounds are well kept and beautiful and the staff is always cleaning, so rooms are kept spotless.

for the money it was great location.
We ended up in a tiny room with no view. We went to the front desk asked for an upgrade and with very little money in my opinion, we got a first level condo with a view of the sunset every night from our living room. We could walk right from our living room to the beach and watch the sunset on the beach as well. Make no mistake this is not a four star resort, but for the money it's good place to stay versus the Holiday Inn. If I wanted to stay at a hotel I would not be traveling to Mexico. The walls are admittedly a litle thin.
