Skycastles Condominiums

Our stay at Sky Castles felt like we had found the authentic Jamaica. We had an incredible time and would recommend the accommodation and the location. Our surroundings were clean and the staff constantly changed the bedding. We had lots of room and the views of Ocho Rios were outstanding. The grounds staff work every day, keeping everywhere in first class condition and every staff member was friendly and saw to all our needs. The barbecue every night by the pool was real island food and the breakfast was very good too. If you're looking for a Jamaican take on life rather than an impersonal chain experience, this is for you.

This resort is made up of different kinds of condos and studios. I really love it here. There are lots of pool areas and everywhere is well maintained and the staff keep it clean. Our villa was spacious and well lit. If we wanted to eat in, we had a fully equipped kitchen. The villa is a good design with two doors leading into the bathroom, which meant you could go in directly from the bedroom. We did have to beg for enough towels but a nice maid sorted us out. The resort chef cooked some great meals and the cost was good, maybe not as cheap elsewhere but there was no point looking anywhere else. Being on a hill, I struggled at first with the walking but I soon got used to it. In fact, I felt fitter when it was time to leave, so it was a good work out. You could of course, take a cab instead, which is what my friend did. Everything is a convenient short distance away. Apart from the beach, you can walk to the stores, great restaurants and there is a movie theatre. I will recommend this highly!

I first came here a few years ago with a group of friends and we keep coming back. We love the condos, which are designed like cottages and its location in the hillsides has great views of Ocho Rios. Its very peaceful and I would recommend it, particularly as the cost is very competitive. We use our credit cards to pay and weve never had any hassle with transactions. The staff are friendly and helpful and the manager takes a personal interest, asking us if we have everything we need. The only negative I would say is not having a phone.

Its a beautiful and peaceful part of the world and my wife and I would stay here again. Town was walking distance but its an uphill walk on the way back. We really enjoyed watching the cruise ships as they arrived and departed. Some of the taxi drivers overcharge so ask staff for a recommendation. We had difficulty finding Skycastles because its not very well signposted. When we arrived, we found our room to be spacious but there wasn't a hot water supply, so we asked to be re-located. After some chasing up, they moved us on the following day. We did find the staff to be kind and friendly. The mountain seclusion would make it an ideal family vacation, I think. The condominium is not the height of luxury but we liked it and I would compare it to accommodation in New Smyrna Beach. The only time it isn't quiet is Sunday evenings when you can hear music in the early hours but its all part of the locations appeal. Compared to other hotels, we liked ousr more, even though we weren't right on the beach. We had our balcony and kitchen so we were happy. You also feel safe because there are security guards and a vehicle gate. The on site convenience store is handy if you want something quick. The only negative is being bothered by people trying to sell you something when you are outside of the accommodation area.
