Great Location…
We just stayed 4 nights at the magic sands in Kona. All the units in this building appear to be studios with a small kitchenette, 1 bathroom and a living area with room for a bed and futon or foldout couch. After having a large 2br condo in maui, this initially seemed tight for our family of 4, but it was really plenty of space for us and our two kids (13 and 10). There are some HUGE plusses to this complex: Its right on magic sands beach which was a great beach. There aren't a ton of swimming beaches right in Kona and this one is one of the best. We had the best boogie boarding of our entire two week trip (oahu, maui, big island) right on magic sands beach. The beach does get a little crowded as it is small, but theres a reason for that. You are right on the ocean - you can't be much closer without being in it. We didn't see them, but dophins and whales are often seen right out in the ocean by the complex. As we read the guest book, I think we were the only ones who didnt see dolphins. Whales are a winter thing of course. Sunsets - GORGEOUS - the best we had on our entire trip. If we return to Kona we would very likely stay here again. By the way if you are heading to Kona, try Kona Mix Plate for lunch. Best meals we had in two weeks in the islands.
