Higuey

Located towards the east side of the great island of the Dominican Republic, Higuey is a growing favorite for visitors. It is the capital city of La Altagracia and is known for its wonderful collection of paintings such as the "Virgen de la Altagracia". This work of art and many other amazing discoveries lie within the walls of the great cathedral at Higuey. It is a fairly large Domican city with many colorful homes and shops, and is a definite must see when traveling out to the Dominican Republic. Higuey is a great example of why tourists should venture away from just the coastal offerings, and give Dominican’s inland a try.
