The 39th Annual National Shrimp Festival, presented by Zatarain’s, will take place October 7-10, 2010 at the intersection of Hwy. 182 West and Hwy. 59 in Gulf Shores. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful, sandy beaches along the exotic Gulf of Mexico in lovely Gulf Shores, Alabama while exploring arts, crafts and entertainment from around the country.

Featuring over 300 vendors of food, fine arts, arts and crafts and more, the festival is one of the largest events in the region. The food alone will keep attendees busy sampling all the delectable treats with the main one being—shrimp!

Tasty tidbits such as funnel cake, Louisiana fried pickles, Louisiana lobster puffs, barbecue ribs, corndogs, gator on a stick, blooming onions, poboys and much more abound, as do a wide assortment of desserts such as fried dough, funnel cake, fried candy and cotton candy.

Children will have a blast at the Children’s Activity Village, which features a balloon toss, a motion theater, parachute races, face painting, airbrush tattoos, a tower of bubbles and island limbo. And parents can sit back, snap photos and enjoy the beautiful Gulf Shores weather while watching the kids have fun.

The festival also features numerous musical acts from several different genres, including rock and country, which makes the festival a must-see event for all ages. Be sure to take home a festival souvenir for a memento to remember your trip by when you return to your nearby Gulf Shores vacation rental to relax after a full day of fun.
