The Annual Alabama Coastal Cleanup

The annual Alabama Coastal Cleanup will take place Saturday, September 18, 2010 to “Get the Trash Out of the Splash!” This event is held every third Saturday in September on the Public Beach in Gulf Shores, AL, in connection with the International Coastal Cleanup, that includes countries from all over the world.

Alabama joined the ICC in 1987. Since then, over 55,000 volunteers have removed more than 1,000,000 pounds of debris from the Alabama coast. Gulf Shores Public Beach is just one of several locations in the state where volunteers can help cleanup. Participants in the annual Alabama Coastal Cleanup receive a free T-shirt and decal while supplies last to thank them for their help in returning the beach to its natural glory.

If you’re traveling to Gulf Shores, and would like to make a difference, the Annual Coastal Cleanup is the perfect solution. You can lend a hand to remove the marine debris that impairs the beauty of the sandy beaches and their attached waterways, as well as the delicate ecosystems along the coast, and the marine life beneath the turquoise waters.

People of all ages can take part in this worthwhile event, even young children if supervised. Be sure to take along plenty of drinking water and wear sunscreen since you’ll on the beach all day. The most important thing is to have fun before you return to your luxurious Gulf Shores vacation rental to unwind from your day of volunteering.

Time of event: 8.00am - 12.00pm.

Doors open: 8.00am.

Price: Free.
