Don't put away your winter clothes just yet! Ski season in a number of western states has been extended due to continuing snowfall. If you want to fit in some time on the slopes before the fresh powder melts away for good, mark your calendars and check out these end-of-season deals.
On April 11, Aspen Mountain is scheduled to close, but it will reopen again for the last two weekends in April (April 17-18 and April 24-25). Daily tickets are normally $101, but for these special weekends they are marked down to $39. Conveniently located near all the ski-action, The Inn at Aspen by ResortQuest offers charming accommodations at budget-friendly prices.
Durango Mountain Resort has officially closed, but will reopen Friday through Sundays during April. For this coming weekend, April 9-11, lift tickets are $39. Snow conditions will determine the price of the tickets for subsequent weekends. Ski-in/ski-out access is a feature of Purgatory Village Condo Hotel. The property also has restaurants, a 24-hour front desk, and on-site grocery shopping.
Ski season lasts until Memorial Day weekend at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort near Salt Lake City. The area got over six feet of snow in the past week! Lift ticket prices drop $10 to $52 beginning April 12. Altas Rustler Lodge has an ideal mountainside location that has impressed visitors for over 60 years.
In Lake Tahoe, Alpine Meadows operates daily until April 18. At that time, the mountain will close on weekdays, but remain open on weekends until May 16. An unlimited skiing pass in this extended period is $99. Squaw Valley USA is open seven days a week until May 9. Lift tickets are $83. Tahoe Sands Resort is on the northern shores of Lake Tahoe and has affordable rates for up to six guests. Red Wolf Lakeside Lodge has modern amenities with a rustic twist. Both properties are cozy places to stay when you take advantage of the extended ski season.
