Sarah Palin is adding a new title to her resume: reality television show host. The former vice-presidential candidate has a deal with the Discovery Channel to host a new series called Sarah Palin's Alaska. Focusing on culture, locals, and attractions, the 49th state's former governor will spotlight Alaska's hot spots (even though the state is widely-known for its cold weather).
Temperature of the state aside, Sarah Palin has been the face of Alaska since John McCain picked her as his running mate in the 2008 presidential election. Now a best-selling author and Fox New commentator, she's been known to draw a crowd whether you love her or hate her--and that's exactly what veteran reality TV producer Mark Burnett must be thinking. Burnett collaborated with Palin on the travelogue project. People magazine reported:
"According to everyone from Variety to The Washington Post, the series Sarah Palin's Alaska has been picked up for a reported $1-million-plus per episode."
The Discovery Channel hosts a variety of television networks including TLC, Animal Planet, and Science Channel. Another sub-division, Discovery Adventures, is currently offering a guided trip to Alaska. Promoted as an "Alaska Wildlife Adventure," the comprehensive viewing of America's northernmost state features national parks, train rides, and glaciers.
The excursion runs once a month from June 2010 to September 2010. It is a 10-day trip through Anchorage, Denali National Park, Seward, Kenai Fjords National Park, Homer, and Kachemak Bay State Park. The maximum number of travelers in a group is 12, and the average party consists of eight. It is rated 2 out of 5 for physical demands and labeled with the service level of "comfort," one ranking under the most pampered level "superior." The cost for one adult is $3,699.
Do you think this offering could be connected to the company's upcoming collaboration with Sarah Palin?
