Branson Airport was the nation's first privately built commercial airport when it opened in 2009; now it plans to start its own airline service. Beginning May 17, Branson AirExpress will host a three month trial featuring flights to and from Des Moines; Terre Haute, Ind.; Shreveport, La; Houston; and Austin.

Branson AirExpress wants to broaden the country's exposure to Branson by attracting new types of travelers. The airline, like the airport, is a start-up public charter service that plans to run without taxpayer dollars. Before private investors opened the $155 million airport last year, visitors looking to explore the "Live Music Capital of The World," either had to drive or take a bus to Branson.

AirTran Airways is currently the commercial service that hosts flights out of Branson Airport, offering travel from Atlanta and Orlando. In April, Frontier Airlines will offer flights from Denver to Branson. Branson AirExpress will further the airport's offerings when its trial period begins in May.

Although it is a separate entity from the airport, the same management will handle booking, ticketing, and ground services. For every tourist who travels to Branson via airplane, the airport receives $8.24 from the city. It's clear that the airport and the airline have the same goal in mind: get as many people as possible to Branson.

Luckily, once you arrive in Branson there are many comfortable, affordable, and convenient places to stay. The Lodges at Table Rock Lake are ideal for a secluded family vacation in the middle of Ozark Mountains. These luxury cabins offer two to six bedrooms and can sleep up to eighteen guests. Grand Crowne Resort provides luxury condominiums overlooking the famous Thousand Hills Golf Resort. Just minutes away from downtown Branson, your days can be filled with leisurely activities or exciting entertainment.

Finding the perfect vacation rental and planning a relaxing vacation just got easier with the new Branson AirExpress at Branson Airport.
