On March 9, Hard Rock Las Vegas President and Chief Operating Officer, Andrew (Randy) Kwasniewski, was found dead in his Summerlin neighborhood home. TMZ broke the story and found out from law enforcement officials that the death was caused by an apparent self-inflicted gun wound to the head. He was 56.
Kwasniewski's wife discovered his body in their Las Vegas home yesterday morning. The Las Vegas Metro Police Department quickly began an investigation into the death and today the Clark County coroner, Mike Murphy, ruled the death a suicide. A single self-inflicted gunshot to the head caused the death.
The Morgans Hotel Group owns the Hard Rock Las Vegas property that Kwasniewski managed. Fred Kleisner, CEO of Morgans, gave his condolences through a Morgans Hotel Group issued press release. He described Kwasniewski as not only a colleague, but also a friend. Kleisner continued:
"'I know few hotel and casino executives who have the knowledge, focus and work ethic that Randy possessed. I will miss him. All of us at Morgans are deeply saddened by the passing of Randy. I know I speak for everyone when I say we all mourn his loss. Randy was a dedicated husband and father, a friend to many of us, and a valued colleague. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family.'"
Kwasniewski was senior vice president of Starwood Capital Group and executive vice president of operations at Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide prior to joining the team at Hard Rock Las Vegas in 2006.
