Alice in Wonderland movie

Even though Disney's Alice in Wonderland movie opens in theaters on March 5, you can experience all the excitement that the film offers through October 31 in Cornwall, England. The highly anticipated Tim Burton film tells the tale of a 19-year-old Alice who returns to Wonderland to stop the evil-doings of the Red Queen. A Lewis Carroll classic, the visually stunning adventure is sure to intrigue audiences of all ages.

While the film has animated aspects, the live action, with stars such as Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, and Anne Hathaway, was shot in Cornwall. The National Trust's Antony House is an 18th-century mansion that isn't quite ready to give up its ties to the epic fairy tale. Through October 31, the property is hosting a variety of events inspired by the film's characters, plot, and fantasy locations.

According to Gadling, here are some of the scheduled Alice in Wonderland movie events:

  • "Mad Hatter's Tea Parties will be held on the Cork Oak Lawn every weekend starting March 6.
  • Explore the house on March 16 and you'll see Alice's bedroom and other rooms that appear in the movie. (As part of the installation, the National Trust is decorating the rooms to look as they did during filming.)
  • The White Rabbit Easter Trail, sponsored by Cadbury chocolate April 2 to 9, leads kids through the landscaped gardens, while a week-long schedule of children's activities from May 29 to June 3 will include a gigantic chessboard with life-size pieces.
  • Kids of all ages can learn how to play croquet at workshops held on July 21, 28, August 5, 19 and 25."

Admission to the Antony House typically costs £7.50 for adults and £4.90 for children, although some of the Alice in Wonderland events will cost more. The grounds also have a garden and a tea-room, so you can make an entire day out of your adventures in the real life Wonderland!
