What recession? Ski resorts continue to prosper amidst the rocky economic climate of recent years, according to IbisWorld research. It seems that the only climate concern of avid ski lovers is how many inches of snowfall have recently graced their Rocky Mountains! IbisWorld data reported by the New York Times states:

"Even in 2009, as most industries were in a recessionary trough, ski resort revenue rose 2.3 percent from the year before, IbisWorld says. Revenue for 2010 is forecast to rise almost 6 percent, to $2.72 billion."

The research also shows that ski resorts have not only maintained their revenues over the past five years, but also increased profits. Of all the things that one may have to sacrifice when money is tight, skiing and snow sports doesn't seem to be one of them. Here are three popular winter destinations that hold a special place in the hearts of travelers year after year.

Park City
Affordable luxury is part of the Park City experience. Conveniently located condos near the three local ski resorts provide everything that you need to feel pampered and at home on your vacation. Take a dip in your own private hot tub! When it comes time to hit the slopes, choose from Park City Mountain Resort, Deer Valley Resort, or The Canyons.

Mammoth
Whether you are a Southern California local, or just visiting the West Coast, you'll appreciate the cold weather activities that are possible on Mammoth Mountain. Even though you're just a few hours away from the beach, world-class outdoor recreation, complete with a full service ski lodge, awaits you in Mammoth. Rentals in Mammoth Lakes accommodate large groups at unbeatable prices and provide a ton of privacy.

Vail
As one of the largest ski resorts in North America, Vail attracts skiers of all skill levels, and the hospitality that you'll find at Vail Village and Lionshead Village make navigating the Colorado town effortless. If you can find the time, there's no better way to escape ordinary life than experiencing mountain culture at ski resorts.
