As the Winter Olympics events get underway, visitors and competitors are beginning to notice a trend in the amount of security present. The festivities surrounding these winter games are known to be fun, carefree, and almost like a vacation to all who attend; but how easy can it be to relax with all of the extra enforcement patrolling the area? Many of the normally packed bars and party spots are awkwardly spotted with few faces as opposed to the elbow to elbow scene that is more typical for a time like this.

As often as every hour, the police are performing inspections, and causing a damper to the normally wild and fun-loving atmosphere that is hosting the Alpine and Sliding events of this year's Winter Olympics. Although it is true that people tend to feel more safe with extra security around, the amount of police presence has been a bit too much in this instance. The spectators are beginning to voice their opinions, saying it is hard to let loose and have a good time with cops in the very same room at all times.

The Canadian Police claim that this is all due recent "overcrowding busts." Natives and frequent travelers all agree that this cop epidemic is not typical of the Whistler area. As a result from Friday through Monday there have been 20 arrests for public inebriation. Winter Games put together an article about this recent hinderance to the Winter Olympics events, and give more detail to the cop invasion.
