With the 2010 Winter Olympics about to get underway, the biddings for the following years' Winter Olympics locations are already being announced. Next on the bidding list are the 2022 Winter Olympics, and Lake Tahoe has their heart set on it. It has been over 50 years since the Winter Olympics have been held in the area (last time it was in Squaw Valley) and the Lake Tahoe City Counsel is ready for the challenge.

The founder of Squaw Valley, Alex Cushing was the last person to initiate the bid on the last Winter Olympics hosting in Squaw valley, and now his successor and widow Nancy Cushing is leading the way in bringing these much anticipated games back to this ski area. January 16th-17th marked the beginning of the bidding process, and with a ten day long campaign for the Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley, the powers that be are aimed at gaining the funds to support the Olympics efforts as well as fund a brand new Squaw Valley Museum.

With six failed attempts to secure the bidding, and the 2018 bidding cycle now at a close, the 2022 Winter Olympics Bidding is going to call for a little more aggression. If Nancy Cushing's efforts are a success, the 2022 Winter Olympics will have the pleasure of being held at the incredible resorts and landmarks of the infamous Lake-Tahoe/Reno region. Tahoe Life of Luxury did an article detailing the progress of bidding of the 2022 Winter Olympics locations.
