Good news for weary travelers who are scared to go out with possible delays ahead; the new FAA regulations are looking to be on the positive side for passengers. With all of the recent weather concerns and flight delays there has been a large amount of travelers that have been stuck on board the planes waiting to take off. Under these conditions, it has been difficult to eat and go to the bathroom let alone take care of an infant or toddler.
A startling 613 planes have been held on the Tarmac (that means on the plane's parking area) for three hours or more between the months of January and June of this year alone. The new laws will not only make airlines release their passengers after three hours, it will require the airlines to provide the passengers with food and water after the first two hours of wait time. This also includes the responsibility of providing operable lavatories at all times during this wait and medical attention when and if need be.
Don't get your hopes up if you are traveling for this holiday season. These laws will not have to be honored until 4 months from today, so if you are booking flights for the winter season still beware of the possibility of terrible weather and less than comfortable waits. The new FAA regulations are a great step towards increasing America's morale during these tough times, and the FAA is doing their part to ensure that passengers across the country are getting the service and dignity that they deserve.
