Copper Mountain Thanksgiving WeekWhat better way to give thanks for your plentiful harvest, than a killer weekend of skiing at Copper Mountain. This year the 8th Annual Leftover Yam & Jive Turkey Rail Jam, will take place on Friday, Nov. 27. The event is free to both amateur and professional ski/snowboard rail competitors, and offers several cash purse awards and prizes just to keep things interesting. The event traditionally takes place at the Eagle Jib Park on top of the American Eagle Lift around 11 AM, and lasts approximately 2 hours. Don't forget to bring your helmet if you plan on joining in the jam (required by rules)! Award ceremony follows shortly after.

On Saturday, November 28th, leave the skis and snowboards at home and bring your snowshoes for the 6th Annual Gobbler Chase. This family friendly event kicks off at 11 AM at the Burning Stones Plaza (registration starts at 9 AM). The way it works, is competitors walk, trot, and run through a racecourse, while given Thanksgiving leftovers along the way. Win or lose, each competitor will walk away with a goody bag and a belly full of treats, but the top finishers will receive additional prizes and awards. All proceeds of this event go to benefit various local non-profit organizations. After the race the celebration will continue with a canned food drive, face painting, and various arts and crafts.

Later in the evening of the 28th, Tree Lighting with Skydiving Santa will kick off around 6 PM when Santa and his reindeer drop-in (sky-dive) on guests waiting at the Burning Stones Plaza. Once they land, the annual lighting of the Copper holiday tree will commence. The evenings entertainment will continue through 8PM with street entertainers, bonfires, and fire performers; concluding with the Torchlight Parade and grand finale fireworks display. Let's all give thanks for Copper Mountain!
