It is time to be amazed, intrigued and inspired once again by the Ironman Triathlon! Known as the world’s most prestigious one-day test of physical endurance, the Ironman Triathlon is the most significant event in the lives of countless athletes around the world. If you or anyone you know are even slightly interested in sports that undoubtedly push the body and mind to their breaking points or beyond, you MUST make it a point to be in Panama City on November 7, 2009 for the 11th annual Ironman Triathlon!
You will definitely not want to miss this event. The most extreme, fit athletes from over thirty countries will be flocking to it and so should you! Since November is a slow month for general tourism in Florida, the entire city will be opening its arms, doors and beaches to the friends, families and fans of the Ironman Triathlon. Renowned as the world’s most challenging endurance test, the Ironman Triathlon consists of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike race and a 26.2-mile run. The swim will be taking place in the pristine waters of the Gulf of Mexico behind the Boardwalk Beach Resort, (Formerly named the Howard Johnson Boardwalk Beach Resort.) which also happens to be hosting the event.
The usually flat water of the Gulf will be anything but calm during the Ironman Triathlon! The biking portion is relatively level, but gruesome nonetheless, making the Ironman Triathlon a very sought-after course for distinguished athletes aiming to set a best time record and for first-time Ironman athletes alike. The final leg of the Ironman Triathlon is, of course, the remarkable run! This is a scenic, two-loop course through residential streets and all around the city, finally ending outside of the famous Spinnaker Beach Club.
The Ford Ironman Florida expo, the Ironman merchandise store and the Ironman Bike Store will be setting up shop in the Spinnaker Beach Club parking lot starting on November 4th to get ready for the Ironman Triathlon. As mentioned before, the Boardwalk Beach Resort (formerly the Howard Johnson Boardwalk Beach Resort) is the host accommodation for the Ironman Triathlon and may be contacted at 800.224.4853.
