The Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival comes to Gulf Coast in the middle of November every year and welcomes well-known and aspiring songwriters from all walks of the earth, whether they've had a hit or not. These are not the celebrity performers who are usually associated with the hit songs but the artists behind those songs. This year the festival hits town Nov. 12-22. It's a great way to get up close and personal with these talented songwriters and come to understand the inspiration behind the songs they write. It's educating as well as entertaining for all who attend, especially the kids.

What has started out in honor of Mr. Frank Brown, or "Mr. Brown" as he was affectionately known, has become the largest songwriters' music festival in the country! Mr. Frank, a night watchman at the Flora-Bama Lounge in Perdido Key, Florida, had always deeply admired and appreciated the artists and their songs and it is in his name that the festival was born and thrives after 24 years in its mission to provide songwriters a stage to share their music with the world.

This year will mark the festival's 25th anniversary and you can count on more than 300 artists coming together to celebrate music over the course of the 11-day festival. Although the 20 or so venues for this year have not been announced, they usually stretch from Pensacola to Gulf Shores and everywhere in between including Foley, Bon Secour, Orange Beach, and Perdido Key among others.
