Whistler Resort is located two hours north of Vancouver in British Columbia and consists of two adjacent mountains, Whistler and Blackcomb, with a charming alpine village at its heart. Considered one of North America’s best ski resorts and outdoor adventure destinations, Whistler is also home to a unique and vibrant arts and culture community.
The two mountains that make up the resort each have their own lift system to transport you to their respective runs. There are a combined 38 lifts that deliver you to 200 marked trails of varying difficulty. Novices to experts will all enjoy an annual snowfall of over 30 feet, spread over 8,000 acres with a variety of terrain including three glaciers, a number of steep chute runs, secluded tree runs and plenty of moguls to suit every skill level.
At the center Whistler Resort you will find Whistler Village. This beautiful and quaint Alpine town was designed to be car free with the pedestrian in mind. It’s a tight cluster of hotel’s, shops and restaurants that make for an easy walk to anywhere in the village. When not on the slopes you can go shopping in some of the 200 boutiques and shops, or dine in any of the 90 plus restaurants. Whistler has something to satisfy every palate and part of the charm is spending a little time in one of the village’s pubs, bars and lounges.
If you feel like a day of golf you will have four award-winning courses to choose from. After an exciting day on the slopes you’ll definitely want to try one of the many spas for a relaxing massage.
When it comes to lodging there are plenty of charming and cozy accommodations. The Whiski Jack Resort is a collection of seventeen different properties located throughout the Whistler resort. The Whistler at Northstar, the Whistler at Town Plaza and the Whistler at Whistler Village Center are just a few of their offerings. They offer units ranging from studios to four bedrooms. Choose from condos with full kitchens and living areas to hotel style rooms with kitchenettes. Most of the lodges offer a full array of amenities such as heated pool and hot tub and some even offer full spas and fitness centers.
The nightlife in Whistler Resort is as sparkling as the snow on the slopes, with great live music, DJ’s and a party atmosphere of camaraderie and genuine good cheer.
No matter where you decide to stay you will be within easy reach off all there is to do in the area, either by foot or free town shuttle. The Whistler and Valley Express (WAVE) provide service throughout the neighborhoods that make up Whistler and all stop in the Village itself.
Regardless of what time of year you decide to visit, you can always be sure of a wonderful vacation in one of the prettiest spots on earth. Plan ahead and make your reservation soon because Whistler Resort fills up fast come ski season!
