The Magic of Dillon Is an All Season Adventure

Dillon sits in the heart of Summit County in the Colorado high country and is a gateway to all of the adventures and scenic wonders that have become synonymous with a Dillon vacation. Surrounded by mountains and situated beautifully on the shores of the Lake Dillon Reservoir, the town and its surrounding areas are an outdoor lover’s paradise. Every season of the year brings new opportunities for fun, sport, relaxation and family exploration as Dillon is the perfect vacation headquarters for all that this region of Colorado has to offer.

Downtown Dillon really comes to life with wonderful shopping in charming little boutiques and great dining selections featuring a range of western cuisine and international flavors. Every Friday night from June through September, locals and visitors alike can sample the harvests of the regions growers at the best farmers market in the high country. There are an endless array of recreational choices around Dillon including biking, horseback riding and rafting. You can even tour nearby historical mining towns or visit the School House Museum to find out the history behind the gold mining that was such an integral part of Colorado’s past.

Music is in the air during the summer and Friday and Saturday evenings are a special treat in Dillon. The TGIF and Sunset at the Summit concert series, held Fridays and Saturdays at the Dillon Amphitheatre from early July through the first weekend in September. Great music and fun for the whole family, these concerts are free but attendees are encouraged to bring a canned food item to help stock the local food bank.

During late spring and summer, visitors can explore over 200 miles of hiking trails while surrounded by stunning displays of wildflowers in the White River National Forest. Fall is particularly beautiful as the season ushers in the foliage color change from green to shimmering gold and yellow.

Down on the lake there are lots of wonderful ways to spend the day, starting at the Dillon Marina. This is a full service marina that offers motorboat and sailboat rentals, racing regattas and sailing lessons for the whole family. For fishing enthusiasts, Dillon Lake has excellent Rainbow and Brown trout fishing all along its 26 miles of scenic shoreline.

The real Dillon attractions once the snows start falling are the beautiful powder ski slopes of nearby Breckenridge, Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, Copper Mountain, Vail and Beaver Creek. However there is plenty of winter fun to entertain you right in Dillon, from sleigh rides and snowshoeing to ice skating and snowmobiling.
At the end of the day you always have comfortable accommodations to return to like a Dillon hotel in the heart of downtown or one of the spacious and affordable Dillon rentals such as the Lake Dillon Condominiums or Prospect Point.
