Lake Tahoe Celebrates Holidays with Jazz Fest, Nov. 27-28

Lake Tahoe Holiday Jazz FestivalThe Holiday Jazz Festival is an annual event and this year promises first class entertainment for the Thanksgiving weekend. The Hyatt Regency Resort will host a concert with Chris Botti on November 27th, 2009 and Boney James on November 28th, 2009. Chris Botti is a trumpeter and has worked with Bob Dylan, Sting, Paul Simon and Aretha Franklin. Boney James plays the saxophone and is a Grammy Award nominee.

Doors open at 7.00pm and the concerts commence at 8.00pm.

There are two ticket options:
Individual VIP Tickets - $95 for each concert includes preferred seating at the venue and entrance to the pre-concert wine reception at the Hyatt Casino.
Reserved Seating Tickets - $65 for each concert.

Palm Springs Festival of LightsEvery year over 80,000 spectators gather in Palm Springs, CA to witness the Festival of Lights Parade. This monumental event features breath taking floats, horses, and big rigs, all riding downtown to bring in the holiday season. Given the name in the early nineties, the Palm Springs Festival of Lights holds true to its title, displaying hundreds of lighted vehicles and floats to light up the winter night sky. This annual event will even feature some highly anticipated celebrity appearances as well as live music from today’s hottest bands.

The Palm Springs Festival of Lights Parade welcomes in guests from around the world as this event is larger than life. Island Extravaganza Hits Mammoth for a Good Cause

DSES Island ExtravaganzaThe DSES Island Extravaganza on December 12th, 2009 is a fundraiser benefit for the Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra. The DSES is run by volunteers and is a non-profit organization that assists adults and children with disabilities. This very worthy cause is celebrating its work with a party that will feature live music and a DJ. Canyon Lodge in Mammoth in California is the host and the evening will also include dinner, a raffle, and a large Silent Auction.

The DSES organizes outdoor activities for people with disabilities, enabling them to do a range of winter and summer sports. This is possible with the adaptive equipment provided and the expert tuition from instructors. The organization is always grateful for volunteers and for donations.

It’s time to celebrate the 9th annual Whistler Film Festival with over 90 film viewings, 40 feature length and 50 shorts.

This competitive event will present over $40,000 in prizes with seven distinct awards. Most of the films will feature Canadian actors, actresses and directors, but there will be a good 30% of the films from America and around the world. The 2009 Whistler Film Festival will start off with an elegant Gala event that will feature some of the industry’s greatest talents. Special guest speakers and entertainment presentations will all be a part of this incredible start to an even more incredible annual film festival.

As the films are being shown, and between feature film presentations, there will be several events scheduled; the highlight of these being the celebrity ski race challenge. Country Christmas Faire Hits Lake Tahoe Nov. 27 - 29

Lake Tahoe Country Christmas FaireThe Country Christmas Faire is an annual event that takes place on the weekend following Thanksgiving and the dates for the 25th Faire in 2009 are November 27th – November 29th. The Faire, held at the Nevada County Fairgrounds in Grass Valley, California, has a reputation for being one of the best shows to display local crafts. More than 100 artisans come to sell their work and there are lots of other attractions, including a community bonfire, live entertainment, food, carols, and wagon rides. Santa, Mrs. Claus and their elves are in attendance and there is a free babysitting service.
