Family Cheer Rings In Spring at Winter Park Spring Blast Weekend

Winter Park Spring BlastIt’s family fun time at the Spring Blast Presented by Snickers Family Weekend at the Winter Park Ski Resort in Colorado on April 10th – 11th, 2010. There are lots of free activities, including live music at the Plaza from 12 – 4pm.

The kids will love the stiltwalkers, and face painting and juggling takes place in the Plaza from 12 – 3pm. Artists are also offering to do a free caricature drawing. The Derailer Bar will provide drinks and food specials and there is an end of season sale for equipment and clothing. Skiers who want free bump tips can meet at the top of the Prospector Lift between 10am – 2pm, where staff from the Winter Park Ski and Ride School will be happy to teach the techniques that will make the coming season even more fun.

Celebrate Easter at Winter Park's Golden Bunny Classic

Winter Park Golden Bunny ClassicIt’s fun for all the kids at the Wells Fargo Golden Bunny Classic Candy Hunt and Fun Race at the Winter Park Ski Resort in Colorado on April 4th, 2010.

Itinerary
11:45am - Non-skiing children (aged 5 and under), gather at the Zephyr Plaza near the Slopeside Mountain Adventure Center to meet the Easter Bunny and wait for the start of the candy hunt.
11:45am - All skiers on the candy hunt, assemble at the Porcupine & Bobcat Trails in Discovery Park to wait for Winter Park Willie. Children who want to go on the hunt must have a valid lift ticket.
12pm - The hunt commences. Younger children may ask their parents to help them find the candy.

Golden Bunny Fun Race
8.30 – 11am     Registration for race at Guest Services in the Balcony House. Parents must ensure children are pre-registered by 11am.
12.15 – 1.30pm     The Fun Race starts, untimed, at the top of Lower Village Way trail. There is no particular order for children to race in. Participants may make as many runs as they wish until the course closes at 1.30pm. Children must have a valid lift ticket to go on the race course. More...

There is something for the whole family, including free live music at the Plaza on the Saturday from 12 – 4pm.

The Derailer Bar will host live music and drinks specials and bargain hunters will appreciate an end of season sale at the shops in the base area. Outdoors clothing and skiing and snowboarding equipment at bargain prices is a good start for next year’s season. Antoehr way to save is by booking your hotel or vacation rental early on.

As the Winter Olympics events get underway, visitors and competitors are beginning to notice a trend in the amount of security present. The festivities surrounding these winter games are known to be fun, carefree, and almost like a vacation to all who attend; but how easy can it be to relax with all of the extra enforcement patrolling the area? Many of the normally packed bars and party spots are awkwardly spotted with few faces as opposed to the elbow to elbow scene that is more typical for a time like this.

Chef's Cup Dinner Makes Winter Park Foodies Rejoice

Winter Park Chefs Cup DinnerThe 27th Annual Chef’s Cup Dinner and Dance and Silent Auction takes place on January 22nd, 2010 at the Winter Park Ski Resort in Colorado. Known locally as the ‘Taste of Grand County’, the best chefs and 10 - 15 restaurants in the area come together to provide the finest food at the West Portal Station from 7pm.

They do not charge for their services, as the event is a fundraiser in support of the Winter Park Competition Center youth ski and snowboarding programs. More than 400 people are expected and they will be asked to vote for the most outstanding gourmet food. All this and live music and dancing too!

Christmas Eve In Winter Park Has Fireworks and a Parade

Winter Park Christmas Eve ParadeA good time is guaranteed at the Christmas Eve Torchlight Parade and Fireworks celebration on December 24th, 2009. The traditional Yuletide festivities take place at the base of the Winter Park Ski Resort in Colorado and it’s a free event.

Carol singing around the bonfire at the base, next to the Zephyr Lift, kick off the proceedings followed by the torch bearing procession by skiers down Lower Hughes Trail at 5.30pm. Santa Claus and his helpers will also join the procession. A fireworks display will light up the Winter Park Ski Resort and snowcats, decorated in traditional Christmas colors, will descend the slopes in a Christmas tree formation.

At the conclusion of the show at 6.30pm, Christmas Eve interdominational services will commence at the lower level of the Balcony House and a Catholic Church service will take place at the West Portal, Level 4. Services will last for approximately one hour.

Try Before You Buy at Winter Park Ski Demofest

Winter Park Ski Demofest

The Ski Demofest takes place on November 28, 2009 at the Winter Park Ski Resort in Colorado. This is an opportunity for skiers to ‘try before you buy’ and to learn about the new ski equipment. Various manufacturers will give a free demo on the new lines, so you can get ready for the upcoming season.

Be aware that all participants must be registered to demonstrate the equipment. Demos must only be for 1 hour’s duration, the last demo to commence at 2.30pm. Participants must be 18 years of age or above and must bring proof of age, and have a valid driving license.

Registration is 8am – 1:30pm.

Prefer snowboarding? The Snowboard Demofest will be held on December 5, 2009, where visitors can try out the newest equipment for snowboarding enthusiasts.

Winter Park Opening Day

As the longest continually running resort in the entire state of Colorado, Winter Park's Opening Day is going to be spectacular! Winter Park will be launching their 70th year in business with this year’s kick off for the slopes, and there will be many eager skiers, snowboarders, and snow tubers, and more.

Opening Day at Winter Park is scheduled to take place on November 18th, 2009 with a large volume of new visitors, and dedicated returnees that are ready for some of the most celebrated slopes in all of Colorado. With all of their years of experience, Opening Day at Winter Park knows how to entertain their guests and will even have local radio station 106.3 KCMV out there to welcome the cheery faces. Winter Park Ski SwapThe 25th Annual Ski & Snowboard Swap takes place on October 9-10, 2009 at the Winter Park Ski Resort in Colorado. If you’re a skier or a snowboarder and you’re hunting for a bargain, this is the event to attend. With a large selection of new and used equipment and winter sports clothing for adults and children, you could equip the entire family at a fraction of the cost. Local vendors offer last year’s unsold stock with reductions up to 75% off the original price. Additionally, organizers make sure all skis, boots, poles, and clothing are of a high quality. Plus, not only will you leave with a ton of great bargains, but part of the proceeds go to fund the Winter Park Competition Centers’ programs and scholarship fund.
