Whistler Pride 2010This year, Whistler Pride 2010 takes it to extreme with three back to back activities for gay men and women that are sure to surprise and delight its guests. Winter Pride Week in Whistler Canada is from March 1st, 2010 to March 8th, 2010, and features incredible winter sports, steamy parties, and plenty of rallies and speakers.

Although the program for the 2010 Winter Pride has not yet been completed, the Winter Pride team ensures the wildest and most unforgettable year thus far. Guests will enjoy plenty of games and activities, winter sports contests as well as the Paralympics (which will be going on at the same time as Pride Week), incredible parties, delicious foods, and of course an excuse to get out and meet like-minded individuals that want to have fun and most of all show pride for their sexuality.

As the Winter Olympics events get underway, visitors and competitors are beginning to notice a trend in the amount of security present. The festivities surrounding these winter games are known to be fun, carefree, and almost like a vacation to all who attend; but how easy can it be to relax with all of the extra enforcement patrolling the area? Many of the normally packed bars and party spots are awkwardly spotted with few faces as opposed to the elbow to elbow scene that is more typical for a time like this.

2010 Winter Olympics Hit Whistler With a Bang

Winter Olympic GamesThe long awaited Winter Olympic Games of 2010 are finally right around the corner! The top athletes from around the world gather for the infamous two week winter sports events. Spectators gather from near and far to witness the spectacular competitions and nightly award ceremonies that are given at the Whistler Olympic Celebration Plaza.

Over 8,000 live viewers are expected to show each night for that day’s medals, and each night there will be a different live band playing some of today’s most popular music. This venue will also feature a giant video screen that displays the nightly Olympic Victory Ceremony, so you can catch it all live, and as if you were up on stage. Inspired by the Chinese creators that brought you the 2008 Bejing games come the adorable mascots for this year’s Winter Olympic Games: Sumi, Quatchi, and Miga.

The Winter Olympic Games of 2010 begin on February 12th, 2010, and continue until February 28th, 2010, with the Paralympics game cycle from March 12th, 2010 to March 21st, 2010. Whistler First Night Rings In the New Year

Whistler First Night 2010Welcome the New Year in a brand new way with Whistler Canada’s First Night 2010. This celebration of the arts presents a clean, family friendly atmosphere that can be enjoyed by all who attend. The arts and crafts exhibits will begin at 6:00 PM on New Year's Eve at the TELUS conference center grand foyer. Your kids will get a kick out of the local mascots Champion Big Air Bear and Digger the Dog.

The children get to welcome in the New Year at 9:30 as a fresh set of entertainers will begin at 9:00 and make a special celebratory announcement when it starts getting too late for little sleepy eyes. First Night 2010 will also present a special youth party night for teenagers 19 and younger. Dancing and today’s most popular music will be gracing the Sea to Sky Ballroom as your young man or woman enjoys an unforgettable New Years Eve with refreshments and games at the lounge.

At the same time, the Skier’s Plaza will welcome the Whistler Blackcomb’s Mountain Show and Torch Parade. Indoors the Jazz Lounge is the central spot for enjoying friends, family, and relaxing the night away while enjoying live music, comedy, and much more. Get Reel at Whistler's Film Festival

Whistler Film FestivalGet up close and personal with some of your favorite actors, actresses, directors, and writers from across the world with the 2009 Whistler Film Festival at Whistler Village. It’s time to celebrate the 9th annual Whistler Film Festival with over 90 film viewings, 40 feature length and 50 shorts.

This competitive event will present over $40,000 in prizes with seven distinct awards. Most of the films will feature Canadian actors, actresses and directors, but there will be a good 30% of the films from America and around the world. The 2009 Whistler Film Festival will start off with an elegant Gala event that will feature some of the industry’s greatest talents. Special guest speakers and entertainment presentations will all be a part of this incredible start to an even more incredible annual film festival.

As the films are being shown, and between feature film presentations, there will be several events scheduled; the highlight of these being the celebrity ski race challenge. Of course, you can’t forget the fantastic Festival Party that will feature delicious foods, incredible drinks, live music and much more. You will be given the freedom to choose which films you would like to see, as tickets to each film are sold separately. Opening Day at Whistler is one of this region’s most anticipated times of the year. For those of you who have never yet visited this part of Canada, you are sorely missing out.
