Taste of Chicago 2010 marks the 30th anniversary of the popular summer festival in the windy city. The outdoor food extravaganza strives to be strictly true to its name this year. In the past, vendors from Chicago suburbs were allowed to participate, but now only Chicago-based entities will offer their goods. Five usual participants from outside the city limits have currently been dropped from the schedule for 2010.

Through Sunday, April 25 the annual event honors the beauty and history of National Parks--and you can experience it all for free! Yellowstone, Bryce Canyon, and Yosemite are just a few of the popular spots that you can take advantage of during the week on a solo trip, a romantic site seeing getaway, or a family adventure.

Coachella Valley Music Festival Highlights

Coachella Valley Music Festival

The show must go on for the Coachella Valley Music Festival. Even though the ash cloud from the Iceland volcano eruption caused a few acts to cancel (due to cancelled flights from Europe), day one of the Southern California art and music event began today. The three-day mega concert is sold out and runs from 11 AM to 1 AM Friday and Saturday, and 11 AM to midnight on Sunday. Festival passes, valid for all three days, were $269.

This week's Branson limited engagements make the "Live Music Capital of the World" even more exciting. Comic-Con International Sells Out

Comic-Con International has sold out two months earlier than it did in 2009. The 41st annual San Diego Comic-Con runs July 22 – July 25, with Preview Night on July 21. Over four days, 400 events fill up the San Diego Convention Center--from presentations and panels to art shows, autographs, and film festivals. While the event is a hot spot for Southern Californians, comic book, anime, and film fans from around the country flock to Comic-Con each year.

Mountain Winery Concert Series

As summer approaches, the Mountain Winery Concert Series heats up! The Saratoga, California venue is a popular spot for fine wine, exceptional food, breathtaking scenery, and live entertainment. Summer concerts for 2010 begin on June 1 and run through the beginning of October. Acts such as the Goo Goo Dolls, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and Diana Ross kick off the annual festivities, with legends such as Daryl Hall & John Oates wrapping up the event series. Tickets for the upcoming shows go on sale at 10 AM on April 26.

Let's take a closer look at the world's largest model train in honor of National Train Day that is coming up on May 8. Miniatur Wunderland is a permanent exhibit in Northern Germany that has been growing since 2001. After inspiration from a visit to Zurich, Frederik Braun enlisted the help of his twin brother Gerrit to realize his childhood dream: to build the largest model railway in the world. After technical and economic consideration, the two began to construct what is now one of the most popular tourist attractions in Germany.

Verizon Heritage golf tournament

Practice for the Verizon Heritage golf tournament is underway in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Part of the 2010 PGA TOUR schedule, the event runs April 12 – April 18 at Harbour Town Golf Links at The Sea Pines Resort. The competition officially runs April 15 – April 18. While all eyes have been on Tiger Woods since he returned to golf, he's actually sitting this round out; Brian Gay is the Verizon Heritage defending champion.

He will launch the event's festivities with a ceremony at New York's Penn station on Friday, May 7 before traveling to Washington, D.C. for the full celebration on Saturday, May 8. And what kind of item will the opening ceremony reveal for such an occasion? An edible "trainscape," of course! Yum!
